Loved dot com Sale Speculation

June 25th, 2009

well…no…our share price (sic) is ok.

World market gloom and doom resounds…but here in Australia, things are good.

But me, I am thinking (yes again) of selling the Loved.com domain due to the constant bombardment of interested parties.

Yes i’ve had previous offers.

So. Here it is. $10 million USD and i get to keep the peter at loved dot com email address for one year post sale.

You get Loved.com.

that’s it

serious considerations to peter@loved.com and subsequent legals will be formalised.

take care

Dead Wombats

March 22nd, 2009

I was out in East Gippsland again today. I have never seen so many dead wombats on the side of the road until today. Not sure if it’s the time of year – Autumn Equinox – or not, but it is so sad to see so much roadkill.

Hopefully someone stopped and checked to see if there were any youngsters in the pouches after they struck the wombat (if they were female wombats) and contacted the Wildlife Rescue people.

The crows will first take the eyes of the dead parent and then take the baby away if it is small enough.

aaah and i also saw a dead Red Goshawk between Bairnsdale and Stratford. They are so rare. There was a dead rabbit nearby it was probably trying to feed on.

Overall, a bad day for native fauna.

Loved.com for Sale pt3

March 20th, 2009

Only if you want it!! Sorry been asked for more!!!

$AUD6 million or $USD6 million which ever is the most.

That is, in English, the site is for sale for 6 million United States Dollars or 6 million Australian Dollars which ever is the best for me. If the USD is worth more than the AUD then the price is in USD. You get the idea.

There are three caveats:
1) domain transfer will only happen when the cheque/check/money order has cleared and the funds deposited into my account.
2) i get to keep all of the content that was here
3) i get to keep the email address peter@loved.com for six months after the domain transfer date so i can update anything and everything that i need to update

Serious enquiries only to the above email address.
cheers

Being Made Redundant

March 20th, 2009

I’m going through an interesting time in my life. I’m very circumspect and level headed these days. So last December i thought i’d enquire about Voluntary Redundancy where i work.

I’ve always been pretty good at predicting things – i asked my Mum to sell her shares a year ago and put them into cash. She didn’t, but she eventually got out after a small loss.
As for me – i could see that where i work was gonna be hit with “headcount pressure”. That’s Stock Market speak for “we have too many people and we need to lose some”. Read the rest of this entry »

Chewing the Fat

March 8th, 2009

City people have lost the art of true conversation. It’s all about “hang on, i’ve got a call” on the mobile/cell phone when you’re mid sentence. And “i won’t be a minute..”…meanwhile you’ve given up, paid the bill and gone and left your phone-fucked up friend in a cubicle trying to get the best reception.

Don’t let them use this as a way of dodging the bill tho. That would be BAD! We all have our days, but friends look after friends right?

Me. I’ve been out in the country. Country Australia. Country Victoria (an Australian state) to be precise.

It’s been good to actually nod and wave whilst driving the one lane roads, moving into the shoulder when another car/4WD/truck comes along. I have a fine Landcruiser 100 V8 BTW…so there you have it, but i’m always moving onto the verge (good word that) to avoid the weekend 4WD’er and the people that have NFI. Lucky for them that i can see ahead and move…for them. I have a nice bullbar :-) and a nice temperament.

Manners is a thing long gone, but it shouldnt be. It isn’t hard to be courteous now and again. A hello here, a g’day there. Even a “how are you?” even if you don’t mean it. It goes a long way.

But remember to respect towns and townfolk, even if you dont like the town your are in.

Pick up your rubbish, try not to swear too much and just be polite in the towns. Save it for around the campfire in the middle of nowhere and let it all out.

Sydney Morning Herald Journalist Blames the Greens Party for the bushfire deaths

February 13th, 2009

Yeah. Unbelievable. Someone calling herself Miranda Devine has published this article blaming the Australian Political Party colloquially called “The Greens” for the deaths as a result of the bushfires (aka wildfires) in the Australian State of Victoria.

This outlandish statement has yet to be refuted by any representative of any party, but it’s likely that the so called “journalist” is just trying to make a name for herself.

This type of reporting is not what the Bushfire Appeals need.

I personally donated $500 and am donating my weekends to help where possible.

You can donate via the Australian Red Cross web site here.

My First Apple Since 1996

November 14th, 2008

I have a PowerPC. Actually i have two – one is dead, spare parts machine. They are both Power Macintoshes 6100/60s. [edit] they were throwing them out, and so i asked if i could have them. They are dated 1994. I got them in 1997. [/edit]

Beasts!! I have all these peripherals that go with them, some in unopened boxes. They, well “it”, still works. Back in the day of a MASSIVE  1GB SCSI hard drive. 66 MHz IIRC and not much RAM.

I bought a new iPhone, 16GB. And will be buying either a  Mac mini (as a cheap, temporary thang) or spend shitloads and buy an 8 core Mac Pro kick arse computer for the home “experience” and a Mac Book Pro for my new venture coming up.

[edit] oh and i bought a wireless router to plug into my home network, just for my iPhone for now. Man all these things i had to switch off and reconfigure just to get it to work on my existing network! Luckily i’m not stupid and can figure this stuff out….next is my music over TCP/IP…. :-P [/edit]

that’s all for now, watch this space.
