Back In Black

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

I’m better now. So, aaaah i was out ‘n about. No real plans. Go up to Broken Hill….go to Lake Eyre from there. Sounded ok. Got me new exhaust system too. Sounds good. More economy…ticks all the boxes. Sounds like a V8 now tho….

Driving along. Meeting nice people. Staying at various places. And i get a call. I have to go back to Melbourne. The interview i had been waiting 8 months for.

An informal interview by the way. Not a real job interview. It went ok. I’ll hear soon. ??? And i am back in the cold of Melbourne. Typing this, i see i need to go back up to where i was gonna go…Broken Hill…Woomera, Coober Pedy.

Got me mail on hold til Sept 19. I think i’ll go pick that up….pay the bills….hold it again.

Life is too short ! Take care

Umbrella Etiquette

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Walking home in the rain the other night with my brolly (umbrella) upĀ  i noticed, not for the first time, that people react well with multiple umbrellas coming towards them, myself included.

Dead Wombats

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

I was out in East Gippsland again today. I have never seen so many dead wombats on the side of the road until today. Not sure if it’s the time of year – Autumn Equinox – or not, but it is so sad to see so much roadkill.

Hopefully someone stopped and checked to see if there were any youngsters in the pouches after they struck the wombat (if they were female wombats) and contacted the Wildlife Rescue people.

The crows will first take the eyes of the dead parent and then take the baby away if it is small enough.

aaah and i also saw a dead Red Goshawk between Bairnsdale and Stratford. They are so rare. There was a dead rabbit nearby it was probably trying to feed on.

Overall, a bad day for native fauna.

Loved.com for Sale pt3

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Only if you want it!! Sorry been asked for more!!!

$AUD6 million or $USD6 million which ever is the most.

That is, in English, the site is for sale for 6 million United States Dollars or 6 million Australian Dollars which ever is the best for me. If the USD is worth more than the AUD then the price is in USD. You get the idea.

There are three caveats:
1) domain transfer will only happen when the cheque/check/money order has cleared and the funds deposited into my account.
2) i get to keep all of the content that was here
3) i get to keep the email address peter@loved.com for six months after the domain transfer date so i can update anything and everything that i need to update

Serious enquiries only to the above email address.

Chewing the Fat

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

City people have lost the art of true conversation. It’s all about “hang on, i’ve got a call” on the mobile/cell phone when you’re mid sentence. And “i won’t be a minute..”…meanwhile you’ve given up, paid the bill and gone and left your phone-fucked up friend in a cubicle trying to get the best reception.

Don’t let them use this as a way of dodging the bill tho. That would be BAD! We all have our days, but friends look after friends right?

Me. I’ve been out in the country. Country Australia. Country Victoria (an Australian state) to be precise.

It’s been good to actually nod and wave whilst driving the one lane roads, moving into the shoulder when another car/4WD/truck comes along. I have a fine Landcruiser 100 V8 BTW…so there you have it, but i’m always moving onto the verge (good word that) to avoid the weekend 4WD’er and the people that have NFI. Lucky for them that i can see ahead and move…for them. I have a nice bullbar :-) and a nice temperament.

Manners is a thing long gone, but it shouldnt be. It isn’t hard to be courteous now and again. A hello here, a g’day there. Even a “how are you?” even if you don’t mean it. It goes a long way.

But remember to respect towns and townfolk, even if you dont like the town your are in.

Pick up your rubbish, try not to swear too much and just be polite in the towns. Save it for around the campfire in the middle of nowhere and let it all out.

Sometimes It’s the Little Tings

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

i go camping a lot. Middle of nowhere. Bring your water, food…sometimes even bring your firewood. I usually have a gas bottle for the stove for cooking if there’s an issue with firewood…which, can happen.

it doubles as a nice gas lantern. Thankfully due to the developing LED technology, the reliance upon gas for lighting is diminishing. I have some lights/lamps…work well. Apparently theres this thing the Mythbusters Team need to checkout…mosquitos dont like white LEDs.

Me…mosquito magnet man…any mosquito in a 300km radius…..bites me!!!

except if my good friend Warren and his wife Kath come along….
Warren…fek…if he’s there, i dont get bitten.

So i invite him and his wife along as much as i can!! hehe

oh and the subject? I have asked my Organic produce place over and over for garlic and ginger in a tube. Keeping food fresh in the outback is not easy even tho i have a 4WD fridge.

Preferably organic, but hey…so i found one..that will do for now….. Gourmet Garden.

If i find a certified organic product, i’ll post it. And yes Tings was intentional…The Ting Tings are white hot here at the moment ;-)

cheers

On the Road Again

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

I went for a drive to one of my favourite hiking spots. It is bitterly cold and i decided not to camp overnight, but went hiking anyway.

It’s so good to get away sometimes, given the stresses of life. Hopefully i’ll have all that sorted out by the end of next week and i can move forward again.

It’s Getting Cold!

aaaaaaaah the serenity…..not a sound…..

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

it’s raining in Melbourne. Gonna rain for the next 2 or 3 days…and i’m going camping…..

It’s blowing a cold southerly.

It’s supposed to be summer.

And i don’t fucking care if it rains all week…coz i’m NOT in the office, NOT dealing with the processes and procedures that goes with working for a LARGE bank.
I know that there’s fine weather coming and it will get nice n hot later in the week, so that will be typical of that part of the world!

And we’re going to Point Hicks, the first part of Australia discovered by Captain Cook on the good ship Endeavour in 1770.

I’ve been going there since 1983………so it’s been 25 very very interesting years, changes, tall stories and good memories.

I’ll be on a beach where i’ll be the only person for 800kms…except for my two mates (friends) of 30 years….lounging, surfing, swimming, eating, drinking and relaxing.

Aaaaaaah the serenity….not a sound……

Your job sucks.

My job oozes.
